VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH SCRATCH, INC.
FOSTERING
We are always in search of loving foster homes to give cats a second chance. Fostering not only saves lives by creating space in local shelters, but it also helps teach essential socialization skills, preparing them for their forever homes. It provides a safe, stress-free environment while they wait for the perfect adopter to find them. Whether you're caring for a litter of kittens or a senior cat who’s lost their lifelong companion, fostering is an incredibly rewarding way to make a lasting impact. We cover all supplies and veterinary care. Your role is to offer the most crucial part: a loving, supportive home until they are adopted.
TNR
As TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is our primary focus, we’re always in need of dedicated volunteers to help with trapping, transporting, and overnight care. We provide all necessary training and supplies. You can apply to help with one of these responsibilities or all three if you like!
Trapping involves safely trapping cats in need of spay and neuter, while transporting is simply getting the cats to and from surgery. Overnighting is one of our greatest needs, this requires a quiet, safe space for the cats to rest overnight before their surgery, such as a garage or a peaceful room in your home (while still inside the traps, of course). Often, volunteers who overnight will also transport the cats to surgery the next morning.
Colony Caretaker
A colony caretaker is responsible for the daily care and upkeep of a spayed and neutered colony. This includes visiting the colony each day to provide fresh food and water, ensuring the colony area remains clean and free of debris, and maintaining the shelters with fresh straw, free from damage or leaks. While caretakers typically supply the food and water, we are always willing to pass along food donations when available or assist with providing these supplies if you’re unable to do so.
